soon soon
we are here and i (h) am having a great time! j took to me like no time lost at all. i still catch her just studying my face and grinning at me. sy had been the most successful at getting her to sleep and such but i have lately felt just as comforting to her. she is calm, cool and easy. it sure is fun to have a beautiful baby here, people come up to us and tell us how gorgeous she is; as if we didn't know! well, enough for now... we will fill all of our days in next week so keep posted as we land in the US of A.
thanks again!
a big day!!
March 27, 2007
Yay!! The day has finally come that h has joined us. We have had a full day. It started at 6am with baby j and SY getting ready for the long awaited appointment at the Embassy. The coordinator picked us up at 6:40 in a toot and off we went like mad women! Laughing. We arrived at the Embassy, went through security, and got to the waiting area with several other families to sit and wait. After about 30 minutes our coordinator took some papers to the window. Then about an hour later we were called to window 10 for our first interview. We were outta there in about 3 minutes. Then waited another hour and were called to window 8. After about 10 minutes we were all done – it is OFFICIAL!!
Next we came back to the hotel for a quick nap before going to the airport to get h. After greeting h as she arrived in Guatemala they both spent as much time as they could get!! The afternoon was spent hanging out and getting settled. And for dinner we all went out to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate being together! Yipeeee….
Well…J is sound asleep and the two of us are pooped! Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers!!
XOXO, SY, h & j
h here~ i have worked 24 hours in the last two days and am not the least bit tired. in about 5 hours i will be headed to the airport and soon be joining my girls! thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts. we will be thrilled to introduce our friends and family to j. see you all real soon!
Things have been going great for me and J! We are so happy that it is nearing the end of March and that h will be here to join us in less than 4 days!!!!!!!!! Then we will only have 7 more days until we head home! Yippeeee!
Today J ate cream of chicken for the first time and loved it! She is still getting the hang of eating calmly. Laughing. Everytime I go to give her a spoonful she starts kicking her legs and flapping her arms. Then when the spoon gets close to her mouth she looks at it and talks to it. It really is a crack. After the first couple tastes, she got better at opening her mouth and eating it. She sure is a cutie!
Other than that, we have been getting settled into our new place. Is nice to know this is the last place we will be. No more moving. YAY! It is quite comfortable here. The location is great too. The grocery store and a couple of restaurants are in walking distance.
Thanks for staying tuned…
2 weeks already...
Sorry I haven’t blogged much lately. With limited internet access it has been a challenge to keep up with emails, graduate school and blogging. So, I will try to sum up the past week here. We are now at the new (less expensive) hotel (picture above). At first it took a while to get used to, but we have settled in nicely. It is right across the street from a big mall. Everyday we go eat breakfast in the McCafe ( yep, McDonalds has a café here with some good coffee!) then walk around the four floors for exercise. Usually baby J falls asleep for her morning nap during the walk. Above is a picture of baby J sharing some fried plantains with me. Then we come back and hang out in the room, playing, watching TV, mama doing homework, and napping. Then we head out around 5 for dinner at the mall again. Then spend the evening back in the room doing more of the same.
This week we did meet a Deaf man from here. He has come to join us for dinner the last two nights. We have had great chats about the Deaf club here, his time in the USA, etc. We are making plans to go to his house and meet his family as well as go to the Deaf club here to meet more Deaf folks.
Our appointment at the embassy got moved up to March 27. However, at this point we are unable to change our flights. So, it still looks like we are headed home on April 3. H will join us here on the 27th. Then we will all have time here together until going home on the 3rd.
Sunday we will move to yet one more place. That is the place we will be staying for the remainder of our trip. It is supposed to be a nice area, more residential and quiet. And the best part is that there will be better internet access.
Will post more when we get settled in the new place. Thanks to all of you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers….
Loves and hugs!
Day 5
3-6-07
Well we got our pink slip issued yesterday. This is wonderful news; however, our appointment at the embassy is not until March 30!! This is not what we expected at all. Seems the embassy will be closed for a big event and appointments will be happening the end of March. Sigh….so, I will stay here for 25 more days. Baby J and I will soon be moving to a place that is more reasonably priced and still in a safe area. This has been the biggest news we have received (and the most disappointing). I sent an email requesting an earlier interview date. The reply I received was not encouraging. But, I did inform them to please let me know of any cancellation that happens. We shall see…
Today we met two sisters from Pittsburgh. One of the sisters is adopting a baby girl who is just about 2 weeks older that J. However, she weighs almost 10 pounds more than J!! You can see her in the picture above. Wild that they are almost the same age!!
Well, J is sleeping and I am pooped! Will update some more in the next couple of days. Please continue holding us in your prayers and knowing our homecoming will be in divine time…
Love to all of you!
Day 3
Well we are on day 3 together and having a ball. Baby J sure is a giggle gus. We have loads of fun playing with her toys, making funny noises, dancing around and just being together. Today we walked around in the lobby and had several people come up and make a point to meet her. Each of them commented on how adorable she is AND what a good baby she seems to be! AMEN! I could tell one woman (who is adopting a 9 month old baby and will be taking her home to Italy) felt a twang of jealousy as she longingly looked at J and said, “she seems so quiet”. Now, don’t get me wrong, when she is unhappy she’ll let ya know! But, it’s that she is just an overall happy baby girl! Other than the necessary dirty diaper, hunger, sleepy and once-in-a-while-just-want-lovin’ cries, it’s mostly giggles, gurgles and grins.
We have been taking lots of pictures and videos for h!! We sure miss her, but know we will soon be together!! Thank goodness for AIM, e-mail and VRS! It helps us stay connected everyday.
Thursday and yesterday the babe ate green peas for lunch. Today it was sweet potatoes. She seemed to show more interest in the sweet potatoes. I don’t blame her – they taste better than peas to me too! Laughing. I got her a sippy cup and she is beginning to drink plain water from it. It is fun to see her maneuver the cup and start drinking (sucking) from the spout!
Well, better sign off. Time for an evening stroll around the lobby. Love to all of you!! Pray for the appointment at the embassy to be Monday or Tuesday!!! We really can’t to get on that plane home!!!
finally here!
I am happily here with the babe!! She is as cute and happy as ever!! Today has been a bit of a big day for her so she hasn’t slept as well as she usually does. Poor girl is sleepy. Other than that we have played, cuddled, eaten and napped a bit. Everyone says how cute she is – and how big she is! They remember seeing her when she was only 5 lbs! She sure is a cutie patootie!! So far I can see that she loves to be sang to, danced with, and to play with her bumble bee and wooden rattle.
As for the process – I am still waiting on my “pink slip” from the Embassy. They are hoping to have it tomorrow. From there we hope to know when our appointment at the embassy will be. It could be early next week, or it could be the following week. For now, h is staying back home. She may join us next week, depending on what we hear from the embassy tomorrow.
Today is the first day of summer here. So, we have been enjoying the warm, sunny weather on our balcony.
Thanks for all your continued support and prayers. Hope to be seeing you soon!!
